Whisper of the Wing
This series features winged creatures we find in our backyard. The process in this type of art form is multi-dimensional and layered. Inspiration was taken from drawing from photos I have taken or from field guides on flora and fauna I found in the library. There are also some geometric shapes as well.
I started with drawing in ink (sometimes on paper, sometimes on tracing paper), scanning in the images and then vectorizing them in Adobe Illustrator. In that program I am able to repeat, scale, adjust the colours, and layer all the different elements. My drawing style I'm exploring is reminiscent of stamps or block printing. It also reminds me of scrapbooking and doodling/grunge art.
I intend on branching out and drawing more creatures and more plant life as well. In the future I would like to project these images on canvas and paint them in large scale. I would also love to take the individual elements of the flora and shapes and create patterns.
